Dustin entered our program as a freshmen in need of resources to help his family during a difficult period in their lives. His mom had recently been forced to leave her job to undergo treatment for cancer and they were struggling with the stress and medical expenses that resulted. He got connected with our Mt. Tahoma Site Coordinator, Ms. Tracy, for help with tutoring and resources. After enrolling, Dustin learned about the other opportunities CIST offers and he signed our after school programs to help retrieve credits he had missed due to the stress of his mother’s illness and having to move. As a senior, Dustin has taken advantage of our internship program, CIS H.I.R.E, our community service projects, and countless other enrichment programs. After completing credit retrieval and tutoring with CIST, Dustin is on track to graduate this summer. He and his mother have become part of the CIS family and we will miss him at Mt. Tahoma, but we know he will go on to do great things. Congratulations Dustin!
