The Executive Director is responsible for agency management and sustainability through strong internal operations, financial oversight, resource development, community building strategies, oversight of the agency team, and effective program management to ensure implementation of the Communities In Schools (CIS) model of integrated students supports. The Executive Director reports to the CIS of Tacoma Board of Directors and is responsible for maintaining strong working relationships with the Tacoma School District, Communities In Schools of Washington state office, other local affiliates, and funding partners.
The Social Work Site Coordinator (SC) works in partnership with school administration and staff to support students through the implementation of the evidence-based CIS model of integrated students supports. The SC is a key player in helping students who are at risk of dropping out of school and who have identified vulnerabilities to stay in school and graduate. connecting students to the resources and supports they need to improve academics and attendance, promote positive behavior and social-emotional wellbeing. The SC works closely with community partners, school staff, and volunteers to provide and/or broker supports and ensure additional resources are available for families. Willie Stewart Academy is a school in the Tacoma School District offering students an alternative schedule and individualized learning plans, and student-focused personalized supports to assist students with credit retrieval and achieving their goals no matter the obstacles they face.
