We are excited to announce our annual luncheon this year will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019. Our vision is “All Tacoma students will graduate with the skills to succeed in school, work, community and life.” We are asking you to partner with us as we champion our mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
We do whatever it takes to ensure students are receiving these 5 Basics:

1. A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult

2. A healthy start and a healthy future

3. A safe place to learn and grow

4. A marketable skill to use upon graduation

5. A chance to give back to community and peers

Communities In Schools (CIS) is the nation’s largest drop-out prevention organization with years of experience determining the early warning signs to help kids stay in school and graduate.

The majority of the students we serve live in poverty, are homeless, have poor nutrition and health, move often, are dealing with toxic stress in their life, been abused, and lack motivation to do well in school. These factors effect student’s future success in their life.

Please let us know if we can count on your support this year as one of our luncheon sponsors. Funds raised at this event will help students like Logan who was first referred to CIS for tutoring support. He was struggling in his classes and his grandma was looking for ways to help him overcome the stress in his life. Prior to moving in with his grandma, Logan was living with his dad in their car. He was behind in his school work and did not have any friends. When Logan’s tutor first met him, she began developing a relationship with him and building up his confidence. Logan now initiates conversation and is smiling and laughing in school. He stops by the CIS room to check-in every day. He socializes with adults and other classmates, and participates in after school activities.
