Emily joins Communities In Schools of Tacoma with over 15 years of youth development experience in the Seattle/Tacoma area, specifically with the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County (shout out to the SWBGC!), Goodwill of the Olympics & Rainier Region, and Communities In Schools of Seattle. Originally from Goldendale, Washington, Emily graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor’s degree before entering the workforce with the Department of Corrections (McNeil Island Corrections Center). It was there where she learned more about the injustices within systems and turned to non-profit youth development work to aid in removing barriers to on youth success thus reducing the prison pipeline.

“I am thrilled and honored to continue being a part of the CIS movement and doing my part to close the inequity gaps that exist for BIPOC youth in Tacoma.”
