Saturday, March 28 – Tacoma, WA. Mt. Tahoma students and Site Coordinator Miss Trisha teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to provide the opportunity to community service hours. Students attended a training a week prior and gave up the first day of their Spring Break to get up early and pay it forward! Volunteering is a fantastic way for Communities In Schools students to get real work experience and pay it forward at the same time. Miss Trisha led her students to and from two different job sites. They took great directions and executed many tasks including hauling bricks and renovation debris, picking concrete off the bricks to be sold in the Habitat Store and then grouted a large tile floor. Before lunch they attended a home dedication for mother and daughter who would soon be moving in to a new home. All in all it was a great day in the sun.
