Oral Health Drive

January 1, 2014 – February 28, 2014

Just $5.00 will provide a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a book.

Research shows that elementary, middle, and high school students with poor oral health and dental pain is the leading cause of school absenteeism in the nation. It also shows Tacoma children from low-income families are impacted four times more because of limited access to dental care, insurance, transportation, and other barriers.

A partnership with the Pierce County Dental Society, Tacoma Public Schools, South Tacoma Rotary Club and Communities In Schools of Tacoma would educate students and their families about the importance of good oral health to inner city of Tacoma children. Providing children and their families with education on the importance of exams, cleanings, and fluoride treatment will lead to a healthy start and healthy future.

We will begin with an oral health drive during January 2014 with a goal of collecting 3,000 products to be distributed to low income students in schools across Tacoma during the month of February 2014.

Just $5.00 will provide a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a book on the importance of good dental care to a student who needs it. You can also help by donating toothbrushes, floss, or toothpaste.
