Leo began the year performing below expectations in reading. He was identified by the school staff as “at-risk” and joined the All Star Reading Program. Leo’s parents were concerned and added supplemental reading activities at home, but he needed a little more. Since fall, he has been meeting with his tutor every Wednesday after-school. The program works with 30 elementary school readers who need help. Over the year Miss Judy and his tutor have witnessed great growth in his reading ability and by Winter his reading scores showed major improvement and DOUBLED!!! Leo’s parents were ecstatic and shows that their extra support at home and a xxx curriculum with a caring adult make headway.Leo’s improvement is a great example of teamwork between the family, school and CIST. Everyone is extremely proud of him and we look forward to his next set of scores!
