After attending seven schools and making a move from California, Jay came to Oakland quietly with not much confidence. He had been abused in his past and came here being behind in credits. Since then, Communities In Schools of Tacoma has assisted Jay in many ways to help him get back on the road to success. Without the necessary food, clothing and new glasses, Jay would probably not be where he is today. He is a more confident and a thriving student who has caught up on his credits. He has become a good friend to other students while advocating for them and most importantly, Jay has become an advocate for himself! When he has a free moment, he loves escape to reading and writing. Jay is scheduled to graduate on time with his peers with plans to pursue college and a writing career.
