Elaf came to Mount Tahoma last year and was referred to our tutoring program to assist her with her homework. She was feeling overwhelmed with the language barrier, but was not ready to give up. We paired Elaf with our all-star volunteer, Mrs. Nyland, and they have been working tirelessly to help keep Elaf on track with all of her homework assignments. Elaf stays after school nearly every day and she always has a bright smile and positive attitude. She is friendly to everyone around her and tries to give back to the program by offering help to her peers whenever she can. Elaf also attends our mentoring groups and she is naturally making new friends and becoming a fine young lady. It is always a joy to work with students like Elaf who refuse to settle for anything less than what they are capable of.
