Christina joined the CIS program last year after she saw how it had helped her older sister succeed in school. Christina has always excelled in academics, but she reached out to our Site Coordinator Ms. Tracy for help applying for a job and to prepare for college. Ms. Tracy helped Christina build her resume and reached out to one of our program partners, H&L Produce, to connect her with a job opportunity. Ms. Tracy also helped Christina get involved in the CIS Tastes of Service Club, a community service learning group, where she has gained volunteer experience and gives back to her community. As a reward for all her hard work with the group, Christina was able to attend WE Day Seattle, a day to celebrate youth making a difference in their local and global communities. Students at the event get to meet other service-oriented youth and got to hear from several motivational speakers. Christina then spent the rest of her afternoon spreading joy by giving free hugs outside the Key Arena. After she graduates next year, Christina is planning to attend the University of Puget Sound. We are so proud of Christina’s hard work and we know she has the drive and skills to succeed in school and achieve in life!
